Summers Nursing & Rehabilitation Center (N&RC), a member of the AMFM family, presented donations to two Summers County agencies from the AMFM Charitable Foundation, Inc. over the past week. John Henry Days, the annual celebration of the legendary steel-driving man, received a $750 donation to assist with musical acts, fireworks, and other festival amenities. The annual festival runs from July 8th-10th this year.

Dolores Moorman and Martha Rookstool, both with the John Henry Days Committee visited Summers N&RC to receive the donation. “We partner with the John Henry Days because it is something the whole community gets to enjoy,” Shelda Cox, Executive Director for Summers N&RC, said. “Our residents enjoy going to the parade, the employees enjoy taking family and friends and it is an event that you can look forward to every year.”

Additionally, Summers N&RC made a donation to the Summers County Humane Association, which is a no-kill society that fosters local animals until they can be adopted by people throughout the United States. Cheryl Miller, and her dog Patience, visited Summers N&RC to receive the donation. The $500 donation will be used for food, the cost to spay/neuter of county animals, rescue efforts, transports, and educational programs.

The donations were made possible through the AMFM Charitable Foundation, Inc. The foundation provides money to its’ family of skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities to support community events, charities and programs.
