Charleston, W.Va. – U.S. News & Report has released their list of 2018-2019 “Best Nursing Homes” and 12 American Medical Facilities Management (AMFM) centers have landed in the top 50 for West Virginia. The annual report, which began in 2009, rated more than 15,000 nursing homes to provide consumers more information on selecting a skilled nursing, rehabilitation or long-term care facility.
The top listed centers in West Virginia are a mix of free-standing skilled centers and smaller hospital-based units that typically have much fewer patients. There are 124 centers listed in the ranking. The 12 AMFM centers and their ranking are as following:
#6 – Lincoln Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
# 12 – Bridgeport Health Care Center
# 13 – Braxton Health Care Center
# 17 – Fayette Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
# 28 – Taylor Health Care Center
# 29 – Cabell Health Care Center
# 30 – Cameron Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
# 31 – Clarksburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
# 33 – Clay Health Care Center
# 34 – E. A. Hawse Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
# 40 – Hillcrest Health Care Center
# 48 – Mercer Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
U.S. News & World Report uses the Centers for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS) Nursing Home Compare website to compile the data but evaluates nursing centers over a one-year time period rather than the monthly rating CMS uses. Other changes in the 2018-2019 include a rating for short-stay rehabilitation.
U.S. News & World Report also chose to not use CMS overall star rating, and instead uses a facility’s staffing rating. CNS uses three different ratings; inspection, staffing and quality to determine a center’s overall rating. Finally, U.S. News used CMS data released in April and July to generate its 2018-2019 listing.
