AMFM CNA Class Program

Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) play a vital role in providing quality care to our patients and their families. The training required and experienced gained from CNA training can be a first step into a health care career. AMFM has had many examples of certified nursing assistants becoming nurses, administrators and leaders in the health care profession.

1. How long do classes take?

Minimum recommended time is six weeks.

2. What does the class include?

The class includes online classroom work, a skills laboratory and clinical rounds with hands-on training and patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.

3. How do I get my Certified Nursing Assistant certification?

After completion of training and receiving the program certificate, each graduate may set for the West Virginia state exam through the testing vendor Professional Healthcare Development.

4. How do I gain employment after completing the program?

After completing the program, you may work as a CNA trainee for up to 120 days while waiting to take the exam. The facility offers employment to students who complete the program and interview process.

5. What makes someone eligible for the class?

Successful completion of the interview process, reference checks and a WVCARES background check.

6. How often are classes offered?

Our classes offered at each AMFM facility are based on the needs of the facility and community. Stay up to date by checking back for a list of upcoming classes.

7. What does the class cost?

FREE! There is no charge to the student for the class. The program provides textbooks and workbooks for the classroom work. Once the student successfully completes the training program the facility will pay for the student’s West Virginia state exam.

8. What should I bring as a student?

Students need to supply a second-hand watch, scrubs and non-skid shoes. Students can eat at the facility they are training at for a reduced fee during clinical rounds.

9.  Am I required to work for AMFM after completing the CNA class?

No, you are not required to work for AMFM after completing the class, but we want you to join our team and be a part of the AMFM family!
